Nationally-Known
Speaker to Address Local Minority Youths
Local Charity Teams Up With Local Book
Club - Kids To Benefit!
On Saturday morning
May 12th National Corporate Speaker
and Author Bob Burg will speak to a group of
minority (Haitian, Jamaican, and African
American) children. His subject will be
entitled “The Success Formula” and is based
on a book he has authored which stresses
three steps which if followed will
lead to a successful and fulfilling life.
All students will be given a complimentary
copy. The manuscript of the book itself is
posted on the internet for people to read
for free at
www.thesuccessformula.com
In an effort to help reduce the drop out
problem in our public schools where only 33%
of the minority students entering High
School in Palm Beach County graduate, Club
100 Charities has partnered with the Palm
Beach County Boy’s Book Club. They have set
up a 3 hour class for 33 children that meet
for 18 weeks on Saturday mornings at St
John’s Lutheran Church in Lake Park. The
program is broken down into 3 sections each
lasting 6 weeks. The class is led by
degreed teachers that have been selected
with an eye as to their ability to encourage
and develop a recipe for success.
A typical day starts with a
presentation made to the students by
professionals such as business people,
government officials, law enforcement, and
other appropriate adult role models. After
the presentation they are also taught about
civic duties, manners, personal dress,
health, and personal responsibilities
required to live in today’s society. The
last portion of the class is devoted to
reading and writing a book report. After
each 6 week session all students are
required to write a book report and present
it to their peers. The peers decide which
students did the best job. Adults then
take the book report results and add it to
information they’ve been observing and
gathering and decide which students have
shown the greatest improvement. Winners are
given checks to be used for educational
purposes that are deposited in a checking
account
