CHILDREN IN AMERICAN SAMOA
Club 100 along with lots of help from Torch
Promotions, and CORVEST, has provided 1,000
stuffed monkeys worth 12,000 along with
$1,000 to help pay shipping costs for the
monkeys and school supplies for kids in
American Samoa. This small island was
devastated by a tidal wave which followed an
earthquake in the South Pacific. Hundreds
lost their lives and many children were left
with nothing but fear and grief. Club 100’s
Vice President Harry Drier does consulting
work in American Samoa on a regular basis
and after the news of the tidal wave hit, he
made contacts to see what was needed.
Surprisingly he was told they need stuffed
animals and school supplies for the grief
counselors that were helping kids. It seems
the kids lost everything because the wave
just completely washed everything out of
their schools and homes. Most of the island
is a mountain and the people live by the
sea. The grief counselors stated it was
important for the younger kids to have
something cuddly to hang on to that would be
their own. Club 100’s Board contributed
$1,000 of the $6,000 donated to date by over
20 individuals, corporations and
organizations. Counting all the in-kind
contributions like Monkeys, and some
shipping, this project brought in about
$`9,000.00. One of the club members, Tom
Torsiello who owns Torch Promotions,
contacted CORVEST, Inc which is one of his
suppliers and they generously
donated these1,000 cuddly monkeys. In
addition to the monkeys the fund has
provided 1,000 teddy bears and 500 school
supply kits for the children. Without
CORVEST, Torch Promotions, Club 100 and
other friends of the club this would have
never happened. If you are still interested
