Tom Graceffo is our Founding Head
Coach. Without Tom’s tenacity and
leadership Club 100 would never have been
involved in the boxing program. Tom got his
start as an amateur boxer with the Police
Athletic League of Auburn, New York, and is
a certified U.S.A. Boxing Coach. He has
been a boxing trainer for over ten years in
Syracuse, New York. Tom was the assistant
coach of 2004 National Golden Gloves
Champion, Frank Squadrito, as well as for
Trish Contente, the first women’s New York
State Golden Gloves Boxing Champion, and was |
|
involved in hosting the 1999 National Golden Gloves
Tournament in Syracuse.
Tom was also Head Coach when Club 100 hosted
the Jr Olympics Elimination Tournaments in
2007 & 2008.
His philosophy
has always been for his students to learn in
such a way that safety and self-esteem are at
the forefront of their training. Tom has also
set up two previous boxing programs in
Syracuse, New York that target “at risk”
youngsters. These youngsters were
referred to Tom by probation officers and
schools. This program has been so
successful that Tom has received national
recognition and a video documentary has been
produced in order to get community support.
Tom instills a feeling of self-worth and makes
his boxers feel a part of the team. He
believes boxing is a great tool for youth
because it requires discipline and
concentration. Tom often say’s he
teaches the kids the other 2 R’s which are
Respect and Responsibility. |
